How Gesture Synth handles your data

This policy covers Gesture Synth at gesturesynth.com, Gesture Synth Community at community.gesturesynth.com, and the Gesture Synth Android app. Gesture Synth is developed by Ethan (thegreatest.dev).

The instrument

Gesture Synth uses your camera so you can play with hand gestures. Video is processed on your device for hand tracking and is not uploaded or stored by us. Audio is generated on your device. The site may load a public song arrangement when you open a shared link, and it may record that the song was played.

Accounts

Community and the Android app use the same account. You sign in with an email code. We store that email in Supabase Authentication so we can send the code and recognize the account. We do not ask for a password.

If you create a profile or publish music, we also store:

Username, display name, bio, and an avatar URL you provide
Song arrangements you create, including title, description, tags, and notes
Likes and comments you post

Public songs, comments, and profile fields are visible to other people using Community and to anyone who opens a public song link. The Android app keeps a copy of your sign-in session on the device.

What we do not do

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your camera for advertising. We do not store a recording of your playing from the instrument.

Deleting your data

You can delete your account from the delete your data page. We email a confirmation code to the address on the account. After you enter that code, we delete the account. That removes the email and, with it, the profile, songs, likes, and comments tied to the account. Deletion does not remove copies of a song someone else already saved, and it does not erase the session stored in the Android app until you sign out or uninstall it.

Children

Gesture Synth is not directed at children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
